Love how balanced this makes an effort of being, please don’t fall into the biographer’s tendency of girlbossifying those who don’t need it

I love how the author portrays the women: she is able to recreate an entire personality out of the very few testimonies about them. Eleanor was particularly interesting because of all the mysteries around her private life.

Why is nobody talking about these women? A rebellious princess, a queen who kills her son for the greater good and a fearless queen and her friend caught in one of the bloodiest scandal of history…It is absolutely insane the amount of interesting things they don’t teach us at school !

I love this book ! The writing is flawless, as it focuses on recreating forgotten characters more than giving an analyses of the time period. And above all this book is filled with unknown stories which I am looking for in a historical book!

This book is so well written! I am already immensely enjoying it, despite it being set in a time period and region I don't tend to steer towards.
