Seems like the only North American Christian groups that steered clear from dispensationalist movements and clergy was the Methodists and Dutch reformed. Presbyterians and Anglicans had dispensationalist movements.

“The issue of the Jews return to Jerusalem was confined to evangelical circles in England and Protestant groups in America. The fascination with the physical restoration of the Jews to Palestine was not a Pietist distinctive; it was a distinctively Calvinist idea that had been popular with English Puritans and was kept alive in 18th cen. colonial America by Puritan tradition preachers like Jonathan Edwards”Pg 85

“The Turk and Pope as 2headed Antichrist”
“Sixteenth- century Protestants operated in a world dominated by two major enemies: the RCC, which was persecuting Protestants throughout Europe, and the”The Turk”- that is Islam, the centuries- old enemy of Western+ Eastern Christianity that for two centuries had been pressing on Europes eastern flank, coming within striking distance of Vienna in the 1520’s.”

For someone like myself with an MA in English Lit, I appreciate how deep into the history of England and English biblical literature that Lewis goes into. I also love that he quotes Nabil Matar frequently as he is always great to read.
