Det är intressant att Cherryhs rymdskepp och stationer känns så verkliga, "hard sci-fi" liksom. Hon bryr sig om hur saker funkar. Och tycker hennes rymdlejon har väldigt intressanta samhällen, könsroller och familjeförhållanden. Men de olika sorters rymdisarna i boken är också så ohejdat goofy (på ett bra sätt).
