Status Updates From Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 32

well this development certainly isn't hurting my theory that keishuk will end up trying to usurp and/or kill su-won at some point....

i am so delighted to realize, 32 volumes in, that the love triangle between our 3 main characters has never been centered on yona. *hak* has always been the nexus. i think su-won loves him differently than yona does, but it's love nonetheless, and i do think it's stronger than the affection he's felt/still feels for yona. god i just love this trio, they're endlessly fascinating from every angle

oh i'm gonna walk into the ocean what do you MEAN su-won only feels safe to confide in yona about seeing hak and gulfan bc he's convinced that it's a DREAM????? bc there's no possible way that she would hold him like that otherwise?????????? my heart is so broken for him he's so alone

su-won has always loved hak more than yona and no one can convince me otherwise!!!!!! i think we're about to see more su-won and yona moments now but i will stand strong

i'm once again determined to finish this volume and i am already emo over a falcon forehead touch

okay NOW i'm back, you've just gotta recenter the tragic bromance and the mystery of yu-hon's death and i am LOCKED IN

i usually jump for joy whenever there's a more hak-focused arc but trying to return to this volume after a few weeks of reading other stuff is proving to be near impossible. i'm still very excited to see where the greater arc goes now that everyone's back at the palace, but this little in-between section where hak is separated from everyone else and climbing the ranks of the army is really not grabbing me

i wonder who he has in mind to potentially take over the throne......yona? surely not hak, right? would yona even want to hold the throne at this point?? i feel like she just wants to be free to travel and help people with the dragons, but that might be a pipe dream now that everyone knows about them. she might HAVE TO become queen in order to protect them. trade one freedom for another

VERY interesting to hear su-won say that he would rather put someone on the throne who is already worthy, rather than just handing over the crown to a child simply because they share his blood. now that i think about it in retrospect, a lot of his rule has felt like a means to an end, like he never intended for it to last. he wanted to fix the problems il had created and maybe then abdicate? was that always the plan?

GIJA AND JAEHA RUINING THE TOURNAMENT SO SINHA AND ZENO AREN'T FORCED TO PARTICIPATE??????? they're such good big brothers i'm gonna sob (i know zeno is technically the oldest but i see him as simultaneously the youngest and oldest, whichever works best for the narrative at any given point)

oh my GOD keishuk is such a conniving little rat i love him
but what i love even more is yona seeing right through him and keeping her composure despite all this political scheming bullshit she's being made to endure. her growth has been such a pleasure to watch, there's a very real sense of satisfaction in seeing her be so strong both mentally and physically bc we've seen that it's been a long road to get here

Nunca imaginé que la historia tomaría ese rumbo, si ciertamente los separaron deliberadamente, después de lo que presenció Yona, complicó enormemente las cosas, a tal grado que las conclusiones que sacó y por querer confirmarlas, Min Soo le hizo una advertencia muy grave que cambia el panorama de todo.
Me rompió el corazón ver como Jae-ha recibe una negativa de Yona para ir con él, para protegerlos

Soo Won está muy interesado en el poder de Zeno pero sólo hablan detalles generales cuando de repente se empieza a sentir mal por ver a Hak conviviendo con su halcón?
Para luego empeorar y recurrir por pura casualidad (?) a Yona?
Que está pasando?! Que ni el consejero sabía y con el general sacan conclusiones sobre conversaciones pasadas D:

Siento que el consejero a propósito los ha separado y los pone en situaciones incómodas.
Me da mucho gusto ver que Hak haya madurado y tome decisiones más conscientes sin dejarse llevar solo por las emociones.
Va a ser muy duro escalar posiciones pero el consejero no cuenta con que él tiene mucho carisma e inspira respeto.
Soo Won está muy interesado en Zeno, así que a ver que tanto le pregunta.

Y pues los dragones también pueden jugar el mismo juego, si el consejero pensó que serían dóciles, estaba muy equivocado.
Han armado un gran revuelo y los generales no pudieron hacer nada. Lograron evitar que Shin y Zeno participaran y aunque el consejero a fuerzas quería que continuara el torneo, finalmente Soo Won le puso un alto.
Bravo por Hak porque sabe lo que está en juego.
