Status Updates From Susceptible to Light: Poetr...

I can’t get enough of this poetry. Though we come from a different faith tradition, I find her to embody the Truth (who is a Person, btw).

as I sit amazed at the pileup of gifts
is that we’re part of a great
contract of goodness
and there’s love
written into every atom
if you get close enough
to read the fine print.

Friend, it doesn’t take much
to destroy social norms.
All it really takes is to crack open
the sacred, wild barrel
of love in your chest
and offer it to whomsoever
might pass by (p.72).

Most days
I’d like to be a poetry nun.
Marry beauty,
devote myself to the fragrant whispers
of changing seasons,
write songs of blazing life
within each blade of grass…(p.60)

And truly
to shine your eyes,
see the beauty of things and say so
is a simple, astonishing feat.

A poem is the realization
that poetry is laid about everywhere,
that it makes itself apparent and easy, that multiple stanzas are written
in every moment of each petal,
that buckets of inspiration
drip from the dew drop…
