I'm convinced that the author has never struggled with depression himself. Many of his suggestions are millstones around the necks of those of us who have.

Another page, another ham-fisted approach to scripture.

The old adage "A text without a context is a pretext for a proof text" applies to this book. I have rarely seen such sloppy use of scripture. In the paragraph after saying intent determines if an act is suicidal, he says that Adam & Eve attempted suicide by eating the forbidden fruit. "They did the one thing they had been told would kill them." They didn't BELIEVE it! Their *intent* was to be like God, not die.

Chapter 2, the author talks about how the destigmatization of divorce as a moral failure led to more divorce, and postulates that the destigmatization of suicide as a moral failure will lead to more suicide. I have so many problems with this that I don't even know where to begin.

So far, the author is sloppy in his citations. Also, there's some arrogance coming through in his writing that is very off putting.
