Status Updates From Rose Petals and Snowflakes:...

Snowmari is the shallowest version of Marianne I've ever read. And way to miss the point of loving someone for who they are rather than how they look. I don't buy these romances. Bear deserves better than Snowmari. Bear and Faia are the only interesting characters. None of them bear much of a resemblance to their supposed Jane Austen counterparts except the Mistress.

How is it that this book is bad and yet I can't stop reading it?

This book is terrible. I should just dnf it. But I also kind of want to see if anything interesting actually happens. Like Faia is supposed to be Fanny, but so far she hasn't done anything that Fanny would have done. This has few of the themes of Sense and Sensibility and is about as deep as a 1/16th of a teaspoon measuring spoon.

So far Faia is the only interesting character here. Snowmari is even worse than Marianne and a knock off Elsa to boot.

The names are silly. The writing is painful. Maybe it will be so bad its good.

On chapter 16

Finally have some time to sit down and read this! Loving it so far; light mystery, lots of fairy tale overlap, sympathetic characters.

I think this is a case of me just not being in the mood for this particular book right now. So I’m going to put it aside and try it some other time (probably after I do a reread of Sense & Sensibility). I do love the concept of mixing together fairy tales and a Jane Austen book for a unique retelling!
