I just wanted to write more. It’s very cool seeing how such a decorated author like Stephen King started his career off by being rejected countless times. He started young—12,13,14 years old, but still. I’m learning a lot from his book already.

The story is progressing very nicely. I learned about Stephen King’s initial motivation for getting into writing—which was when he showed his mother the book he copied by writing onto paper—and how fulfilling the look of pride for her son’s genius was for a short moment, until he told her that he copied it from the book he was reading. I love King’s works. Honestly, this nonfiction work might be one of his best.

My biggest takeaway is that Stephen King actually finished reading House of Leaves lololol

KIDDING no this was a super cool behind the scenes look at the process and SK's process in particular. Even though I'm not much of a writer myself, this was still a valuable read & the philosophy of it all feels universal

so far, it’s been very kermudgen-y. it’s less about how to formulate ideas (he already said that his ideas “just come to him,” which is awesome advice) and turn those into stories than it is about how you should close the door when your write and remove distractions such as windows or telephones (but he listens to rock super loud; do as i say not as i do). also said bad writers can’t become good so…
