I do not like academy style narrators in general. But Twain ‘s writing shines through any boring narrator.

Man it feels so cool to be actually ahead on review schedule, I got this and Wizard of Oz finished already, which will be my next 2 reviews. Now, I think i'm going to finish Eric Brighteyes and House of the Wolfings. Maybe knock out the Golden Key as well. Idk, but to maintain being 2 reviews ahead, i'll have to get to Gods of Pegana sometime soon...

Still pretty good.

The middle of this book was very episodic, and often varied in quality. But now, its finally tightening up in a good way. However, I feel like this book sometimes misses out on the potential ideas this premise could deliver. The arguments are sometimes too straight edged; unless there's a revelation coming soon that i'll get to. But i'm gonna review this soon, so yall shall hear from me then.

An entertaining, humorous, and surprisingly thematic book so far. I'm only a little way in, but the prose, the industrialization arc, and the rant-filled critiques of monarchy and religion have been a blast so far. The readability of this is a breath of fresh air after so many archaic Bronze Era fantasies (not that I don't enjoy those too). Easy to binge, easy to ponder, difficult to find a flaw: so far, so good.

I wonder what MT would think about our flawed democracy and the fact that it elected someone worse than a feudal lord. I also wonder how he would feel about the true outcomes of free market capitalism and its unforeseen consequences (climate change, oligarchy)). He'd definitely be a Bernie Sanders supporter methinks.

MT pointing out that intellectual work for those capable is usually if always a pleasure and richly compensated. Manual work is toil. Tradespeople who say they love it after 30 years are rare, and they get paid squat.

"Education can do so much!" So true MT.

MT refers to the quest for the holy grail as "gone grailing" . Hilarious.

MT destroys the Roman Catholic Church lol and its contribution to class inequality. Also I thought he might have miscalculated using wire for his second wizard's spell but wire did exist then!

This is so much more pleasant to read than ol Pudd'nhead Wilson! MT is so clever. His writing so absorbing and fun!
