Status Updates From Magic Study (Poison Study, #2)

Well howdy-do, it's a freaking party in here. First Ari and Janco. Then Valek (disguised), and then Cahil? I really hope there's a good, plausible explanation for this.

Everyone thinks Yelena is nice? What? WHO!? Everyone is giving her death stares and from what I remember, most folks think she is an Ixian spy. Sigh.

A couple of things:

Curare? Really? FF8 much?

While I'm kind of OK with Yelena being able to get through to the sand people, I don't like how it was handled and that Irys wasn't able to do better. Yelena is kind of turning into a Mary Sue. And a snarky one at that. I'm all for headstrong and rebellious. But she's being a real brat and it's annoying the fuck out of me. Plus the lack of hard consequences.

Not bad so far. I'm not impressed with how much rape there is, and that Yelena doesn't have a lot of female friends. I kind of ignored it in Ixia given that most folks she would encounter were going to be men, but here there's not much reason for it. I don't think I'd mind as much if Cahil wasn't making googly eyes at her already.
