The Screaming Skull (1908) by Francis Marion Crawford
Neat little monologue conveyed to a guest of the narrator that sounds very modern, though overstays its welcome by going over the same things stylistically. Still, even if quaint by modern standards, the idea of a haunted skull screaming bloody murder and crushing unsuspecting and sceptical people's windpipes is fun and, in its way, creepy.
