This chapter was a sweet exposition of Colossians 3:12-19 and how it lays the groundwork for marriages that endure. Two redeemed sinners are called chosen, holy, and beloved, and therefore as husbands and wives we make it our aim to abide well in Christ through His gospel until our hearts become more merciful, more lowly, and more long-suffering toward our spouse :)

This chapter was so neat! Piper argues that the lack of shame in marriage (pre-fall) was due to their perfect, covenant-keeping love. There was no sin yet, but if there was reason for shame, they couldn’t experience it because perfect love & graciousness were present. Their union was founded on their then-perfect union with God — so cool to consider this & how the gospel restores both unions to be full of grace!
