Slow start on this one, but I'm hoping the action picks up a bit more.

the book, so far, is so interesting & detailed. at first, i didn’t quite understand what was going on & stuff but than i just kept reading and started to really enjoy it! 18393/10!!!! ♥️♥️

- This reminded me of the Doctor Who s3 episode where the Doctor and Martha travel to New (x15) New York and find people stuck on the motorway because of a disease that wiped out the world. I rewatched it last night and it was great!
- I’m always suspicious of tech in dystopia books so I keep waiting for the tech to stop Cleo from leaving the apartment. But so far the AI teacher has been supportive, even helpful!

- My third read for Middle Grade Madness’ October Readathon!
- I’m so excited for this one! The concept seems fantastic!
- The cover is beautiful😍 the colours I mean, not the giant spider😂

I’m re-reading this one in preparation for a book club about it. While it is middle-grade fiction, I’d recommend it to anyone!

I'm rather obsessed with this... Burt is a really good writer. This is smart and timely, and the parallels to Little Red Riding Hood are fun. Sci-fi is a genre not experimented enough in middle grade lit and I'm excited to see what kids think of this.

Only issue... I find it strange that Cleo is the only one concerned with the medicine. Given the setting, I would think ANYONE would find the delivery highly strange.

Oh, the first sentence of this book is fantastic! And the chapter that follows hooks with just enough info. I'm really excited for this one...
