Oh I’m so sad that The Watson’s was unfinished!!

So charming! Emma could definitely be ranked among Austen’s lovely, determined, and brave heroines. So cool that we have Cassandra Austen’s knowledge of how the story was going to continue and end but makes me wish we had that even more!!

“It was well for her that she was naturally cheerful; - for the change was such as might have plunged weak spirits in despondence.”

Knowing the background of Jane’s life while writing this makes this line hit hard. I could easily see her writing this trying to make it true in her own life.

“And so, he departed, delighted with the uncertainty in which he had left it.”

Ugh how annoying

“You know I am no card player. I think a snug chat infinitely better. I always say cards are very well sometimes, to break a formal circle, but one never wants them among friends.”

Ewwww do not like her oldest brother

“Female economy will do a great deal my Lord, but it cannot turn a small income into a large one.”

Lord Osborne was silenced. Her manner had been neither sententious nor sarcastic, but there was a something in its mild seriousness, as well as in the words themselves which made his lordship think;

“The surprise of the young ladies may be imagined. No visitors would have been welcome at such a moment; but such visitors as these - such a one as Lord Osborne at least, a nobleman and a stranger, was really distressing.”

Ugh still feel this way about unannounced visitors

“but I am sure I had no claim to expect it; for I never saw him before in my life (Mr Howard). - By and bye, he enquired after one of my daughters, but I do not know which. I suppose you know among yourselves.”

What a dad!! Lol he asked about one of my daughters but I didn’t pay enough attention to remember which

“it was her wish to return home to dinner. - The plan was warmly opposed by their visitor.
I cannot suffer it indeed. I must not be deprived of the happiness of escorting you.”

I am glad I don’t live in a time of unwanted carriage rides by men lol

Well that was adorable

And maybe one of the first children that ever gets to speak in an Austen story lol

“Emma in the meanwhile was not unobserved, or unadmired herself - A new face, and a very pretty one, could not be slighted - her name was whispered from one party to another”

Time for The Watson

“Whether Lady Susan was, or was not happy in her second choice - I do not see how it can ever be ascertained - for who would take her assurance of it, on either side of the question?

That was a wild ride and lackluster ending

“What could I do? Facts are such horrid things!”

Hahaha this disaster is so satisfying

She’s like the evil Emma. Emma if she truly hah no good intentions or consideration for others
