Starting this over, finally got the audiobook from the library.

A skeletal hand patted him on ths shoulder, not unkindly.

Our Story So Far:
The dragon interrupts the coronation - by flaming the new king. Then...the dragon takes the crown. Meanwhile, Errol keep eating everything in sight. Vimes is sacked.

I am liking this and the characters and dialogue is super entertaining but I must say that reading this has made me realise that I prefer more plot focused stories as I thrive on mystery. I like a problem and seeing how the characters solve that problem, this is more of a commentary and parody with a lot of funny jokes I must say. There is a plot, but the focus on it isn't too big I would say.

This book is great.

…I want a swamp dragon and Carrot is everything to me.

You tell them a lie, and then when you don't need it anymore you tell them another lie and tell them they’re progressing along the road to wisdom. Then instead of laughing they follow you even more, hoping that at the heart of all the lies they'll find the truth. And bit by bit they accept the unacceptable.

Our Story So Far:
Vimes tries to warn the Palace (whomever is residing there) that the dragon is back. Errol is not feeling well. Carrot charges the Palace Guard (literally). Everybody in Ankh-Morpork has Royal Fever.

Not an awful book, but it's taking me forever to get through it and I wasn't really drawn in by it, so I'm gonna abandon it

Just after my last update (27%), tiba-tiba bukunya jadi seru dong 😭 aku merasa berutang untuk update lagi wkwkwk. Finally set up nya selesai dan masalah naik ke permukaan, I think turning pointnya adalah ketika Captain Vimes ketemu Lady Sybil. Awalnya kupikir buku ini mau dibawa ke arah Carrot ngedefine apa makna "justice" bagi dia, ternyata lebih ke Captain Vimes dan dragon thingy ya

Membaca series Discworld memang biasanya membuatku superbingung di awal tapi lama kelamaan jadi page turning. Untuk Guards! Guards! ini entah kenapa aku belum dapat feelnya sampai seperempat buku, padahal reputasinya salah satu yang paling oke 🥲

“I want to be clear about this,” he said coldly. “Are we to believe that you are asking for a petty wage increase and a domestic utensil?”

They literally could've asked for ANYTHING???!!!!!! OMG

“It’s not that,” said Colon. “It’s Carrot. He’s arrested the dragon.” Vimes paused. “What do you mean, arrested ?” he said. “You don’t mean what I think you mean, do you?” “Could be, sir,” said Colon uncertainly. “Could be. He was up on the rubble like a shot, sir, grabbed it by a wing and said ‘You’re nicked , chummy,’ sir. Couldn’t believe it, sir. Sir, the thing is…”

Imagine not loving Carrot

Carrot stepped out of the shadows, grinning all over his face. “Knew I could rely on you,” he said. “Follow me!” “Something odd about that boy,” said Colon, as they limped after him. “He always manages to persuade us to follow him, have you noticed?”

I'm pretty sure if it was Carrot who took that shot, the dragon would be dead now bcuz he's the rightful heir to the throne

Reread the starting section a few times as I wasn’t expecting the stutter in the writing

She touched him gingerly on his arm. It was like watching an industrial robot being expertly manipulated to grasp an egg gently. “Not everyone’s as brave as you,” she added, timidly. “Me?” “The other week. When you stopped them killing my dragons.”

Ugh but they're cute!!

There will be no mighty warriors sent to kill me? it thought, almost plaintively. “I don’t think so.” No heroes? “Not anymore. They cost too much.” But I will be eating people!

I remember seeing this one in the bookstore back when I was in college. I thought it looked interesting, but I had to spend my money wisely. So, took a pass. Well, her we are 36 years later and am finally cracking into. So far it has been pretty amusing.
