Status Updates From Katheryn Howard: the Scanda...

Questo libro è imbarazzante. Si salvano le prime 50 pagine, e un po' la scrittura (pur essendo spesso noiosa e ripetitiva all'eccesso) il resto è solo disagio. Non ho parole davvero. Non so cosa sia successo, ma è veramente un'opera scadente.

Ho messo un po' il turbo e sto cercando di non trascinarmi oltre questo libro. Ho amato i primi quattro, ma questo non incontra il mio gusto. Ripetitivo, noioso, sembra un romanzetto di second'ordine; con la parte storica lasciata in secondo piano per dare spazio a cose che non sono utili affatto né ai fini di trama né al lettore. Mi spiace molto, ma ne sono delusa.

Non ne posso più di 'sti due (Caterina e EnricoVIII). Non ne posso più di nessuno dei personaggi di questo libro.

Un minuto di silenzio per tutti quei poveretti che per la quinta volta (e non sarà neppure l'ultima) hanno dovuto cancellare e sostituire tutti gli stemmi e i motti nei vari palazzi in onore della nuova regina di turno.

Sono a metà. 🎉 Posso dire che il vero sovrano qui è il disagio??

Se non fosse per il mio amore smisurato per i libri e la scrittura di Alison Weir sempre coinvolgente, avrei già lanciato il libro dalla finestra. Non li sopporto più. 🙄

Qui si procede benissimo, anche se al momento non posso dire essere il libro della serie che preferisco e stessa cosa vale per la regina in questione. Dipinta come troppo leggera e incostante. Sicuramente vittima di intrighi politici, ma anche lei ci mette del suo, come tutti in questo libro. 🙈

Approdata alla seconda parte. 👑

Immaginatemi che mangio pop-corn come se fossi al cinema mentre leggo di tutti i sotterfugi, gli intrighi, i banchetti e i disagi qui descritti. 🍿

Marzo sarà un mese dedicato alla lettura di sole autrici donne 🌷 e così ho iniziato a portarmi avanti di un paio di giorni iniziando il quinto capitolo della serie "Le Sei Regine Tudor" 👑 che mi appassiona moltissimo. Caterina Howard è un'altra delle mogli di Enrico VIII di cui so poco e quindi sono pronta a conoscere la sua storia attraverso la brillante prosa di Alison Weir. 😍

This is devastating. Katheryn doesn’t deserve this end.

Well. Katheryn's been arrested for having dalliances before marrying the King. She's in despair and Henry is completely stonewalling her. I've heard this story before!

Katheryn is fully indulging in her affair with Tom and Henry is none the wiser. Jane Rochford is still helping to cover for Katheryn, but why? What's truly in it for her? Francis Dereham is being an insufferable knave, and is still of the belief that Katheryn is his "wife." This entangled mess can't go on forever! Something will come out eventually, and probably very soon. Onto part five!

So Katheryn's reign so far has been smooth. Henry loves her, she loves him (in her own way) and all is merry. Except for the fact that Henry is slowly dying, Katheryn has had two miscarriages, and she's still in love with her former flame Tom Culpeper. It's not helping that Jane Rochford keeps pushing them together, despite Katheryn's reluctance. I have a feeling I know exactly how this ends.

Katheryn is now Queen and all is well in the Howard-Tudor house… OR IS IT???

Katheryn is marrying the king! I find it interesting how the Howards never seem to learn their lesson when it comes to their scheming and conniving. It didn’t end well for Anne and Katheryn is no different! They’re settinf her up like a pig for slaughter.

Katheryn is leaving for court! She spent nine years at Lambeth under the Duchess, but is now bound to serve Queen Anna. She's eager to leave it (and Francis) behind, but Francis is still under the assumption that they're going to marry. Katheryn doesn't think her verbal promise to marry him means much, but knowing what's coming to her in a few years time, I have a feeling it's gong to come up again. On to part two!

Katheryn dumped Harry, and now she's moved on to the prolific "bad boy" of the bunch. This probably won't end well.

Katheryn is still under the care of her grandam, but she fell in love with Harry, who is also living under the Duchess's care. However, he isn't 'of means' and therefore has no chance of hell in being with Katheryn. Of course, their affair was discovered and he was dismissed, and Katheryn is distraught. Interesting how this is setting up her character.

Katheryn Howard. Here we go. Her story begins when she's just 7 years old, and I already feel for her. She's lost multiple "mother" figures, including her actual mother, in the span of a few years, and now she's been placed by her poor, opportunistic father in the Dowager Duchess's care. Her only true "assett" is her family name, Howard. I'm curious to see how her story at the court begins!

Oh I'm just eating this book up like the rest of them Alison doing her most with this series and im living for it 💅

Fanciful mixed with historical record. Alison Weir is a great historian and this is a great “what if” regarding the Queen we know least about.

Very stressful reading this knowing her head will be chopped off in about a hundred pages 🙃

Weir has called the Duke of Norfolk a “martinet” in every book of this series. Pick up a thesaurus, ma’am, I beg you!

I’m doing my usual historical fiction thing and hitting up Google every few pages, so as always with this genre, it’s taking double the time to read! 😅
