Status Updates From Frisk

"spaced" was SUCH a good chapter. it made me REALLY want to watch the movie based off this book, just to see how they did this chapter because its primarily confessions/monologues from each character where they confess to what they want to do and what's been done to them. helped me actually get into said characters because i struggled with it until now. i just wish it happened earlier lol

halfway thru the book and i still dunno how to feel about mr. cooper making a serial killer oc and naming it after himself but like, okay

I struggled to stay invested in the last chapter knowing it was mostly Dennis’ fictional writings. What did it reveal that we didn’t know? I believe now more concretely that the earlier sections were similarly fictionalized. It adds to the book’s tension between fantasy and reality. Are Dennis, the author, and Dennis, the narrator, not doing the same thing? It’s difficult to tell. Still, killed the pace.

Not what I expected following Closer, but I see how it connects thematically. I prefer this one’s style of writing, but it feels less mysterious. Maybe it’s just less vague. I’m curious to find out where it goes. It’s leaning into being more meta à la The Sluts. Being familiar with Cooper’s work, I trust the disturbing shit is purposeful, but sometimes I get wary and question the author and then myself.
