I am liking the book so far but I have one gripe about Alice Hoffman's crutch word in this book, "for". It fine if its sprinkled in but almost every page so far its been "Maria was a special child, for she had the gift of the sight." or "Magic could be found in many places, for magic reveals itself to those who are deserving."

Its just really repetitive and sounds like its forcing tone constantly.
