Status Updates From Slaying Monsters for the Fe...

This is spending so much time describing the protags from other books I'm finding it annoying and I haven't even read them. I feel like this would be extremely annoying if you've read those books and already know all of this info

Ah, there was the insult. Somehow, I felt better. Zylas being patient and considerate was just weird.

“Tori is the all-mighty overlord of the bar. I’m just the cook.”

So, offending a demon wasn’t a wise choice. Gosh, I love their interactions

Sharing my room with a demon was unpleasant enough without the complete lack of privacy. He might be able to hear my thoughts half the time, but he did not get to see me undress. I’d extracted that promise from him in exchange for teaching him how to use the shower.
He loved the shower. I was pretty sure he’d save the shower before he’d save me, contract or no contract.

The TV was secondhand. Amalia had purchased a brand new one to start, and after setting it up, she’d made me give Zylas a stern lecture about treating it with care. He’d put his barbed tail through the screen ten minutes later.
Keeping a demon entertained wasn’t easy. He could survive a few days without anything to do, but then the restlessness set in. And a restless demon was destructive.

“Aaron, Kai, and Ezra,” she supplied. “Pyromage, electramage, and aeromage. A power team for sure. By the way, they’re all single.”
My mouth dropped open. “Huh?”
“Isn’t that where you were headed with your questions?”
Actually, no. They were certainly good looking, but also big and muscly and probably loud. I’d bet they hadn’t read a single book between them this year. No thanks.

“Once, a couple of years ago, Kai missed the monthly meeting. That month, Aaron and Ezra organized a dozen completely pointless meetings with almost every member of the guild and made him take minutes for each one.”

“I thought the three guys were trouble enough, but then they adopted Tori as Mischief-Maker Number Four.”

One more minute, I told him. Then—
His head jerked up.
Like a startled herd of deer, every nearby mythic jumped away. What was he doing?

Zylas held Darren against the bar, still as a statue and probably bored out of his mind. Pinning people down wasn’t nearly violent enough to entertain him.

I looked down at the open book. It vanished from my grasp. Zylas held the book up as though debating whether to burn it to ash on the spot. Turning, he stretched onto his toes, reached for the highest shelf, and shoved the book into the back. He dropped onto his heels and faced me. Barely topping five feet, I had no chance of reaching the book without a ladder. Which he knew.

I didn’t have to worry about that. In fact, I had zero control over my demon. Which, all in all, was a terrifying problem to have.

I snorted at the thought of a “troubleshooting” page, imagining their suggestions. Demon won’t boot properly? Try turning your infernus off and on again.

Ok chapter 25 holds my heart and totally redeemed Robin to me she gave Z her grimoir family book to show her trust and respect for him and their partnership then she gave it up to save him :(((( omg I can’t wait to see what’s next for them

she likes to say they are partners then utterly commands and take Z's will away, just assuming full will over him sometimes. and when he tells her to do something she likes to manipulate him into getting what she wants. because she has slight power over him with the inferness, she abuses it because she has no power elsewhere in her life, like a bully. idk id honestly rather z end up with Amalia.

i think what bothers me so much about robin is she is a basic and flat character, with no real positive traits. She was so irate and disgusted at Z for killing a random dude and calling him a monster for doing what she asked, protect her. Then like the next chapter, she's unapologetically commanding him to kill a bunch of people. like the author had to create fiction between Z & R so she gave R terrible traits.

Fav thing is the idea of a demon doing a puzzle

These books are as addicting as watermelon on a hot summer day — I cannot stay away from them

This has been just as much fun as the first book in the series! I've decided not to bother with the other books set in this same fantasy world and just binge my way through this series since I'm enjoying it so much right now and that is not something I can say about too many other books in the last 6 month or so.
