Status Updates From King of the Wilderness: The...

Today Nan Chauncy was mentioned twice which was cool timing as we visited Chauncy Vale and Day Dawn cottage today, where Deny and family also visited. The book talked about her two books that were set in the South West. I have The Roaring 40 and may read this next.

I've decided I couldn't have lived at Melaleuca because I've mutton bird before and I'm unwilling to eat it often enough to acquire a taste for it.

I'm exhausted just reading about all the stuff Deny King does 😅

I think I recognise the surnames of 75% of the people mentioned in this book 😂 I am very much enjoying this insights into the South West (and really Southern Tasmania), of which I've heard so many stories about from my own dad. His grandfather knew Deny King and I think my dad is a little envious of the fact!

From page 14: "I Am, the rooster, became I Was when he lost not only his tail but also his confidence in an encounter with a Tasmanian Devil." 😂

I'm enjoying coming across many familiar surnames from the Huon - Skinner, Woolley, Burgess, Creese, Fletcher, etc, and the descriptions of places I have heard stories about from my dad, who has his own tales of dense forest full of impenetrable horizontal scrub.
