Okay... Literally her chapter on PMS/PMT was incredible. Emily Martin you are my queen and I have worshiped the ground you walk on for years.

So thought provoking. How can we describe our bodies when all of Western thought and biomedicine has continually dispossessed us from our bodies? Since we view (female) bodily processes AS involuntary processes, how can we say “I’m getting my period” in a way that sounds like a deliberate act we participate in? How can we start to view our bodies as ourselves?
