Status Updates From A Utopia

I love this line on page 74, “They think leagues are useless things, and believe that if the common ties of humanity do not knit men together, the faith of promises will have no great effect…”

It’s interesting to read about what the Utopians hold as pleasures, seeing as they don’t value most physical things beyond their usefulness. Even though they value good health, it’s only to the extent that it stops you from feeling bad. Knowledge is another key pleasure, and I find it interesting that there is no discussion of their own works, only that they enjoy the works of foreign authors.
