This play is great — poetry but not overly-wrought, poetry that works as dialogue, stage direction that provides imagery and spectacle to work against, or with, the poetry. It’s also just a really good and useful retelling of Oedipus.

Definitely a good read. Being the kind of reader I am, I have picked up so many themes related to racism and slavery. However, I do plan on rereading Oedipus to understand why these two story lines are alike.
