Dr Murray being furious because they missed a word in the dictionary ’bondmaid’ the first slip Esme ever found under the sorting table as a child.

Da & Esme discuss how she wants to be an editor & she doesn’t want to get married as that would prevent her from achieving her goal. Cause she’ll have to look after babies & cook all day. Esme returned from the boarding school in Scotland where she was being abused. She’s been distant & quiet ever since returning. Ditte wrote her a letter & enclosed an article clipping about the teacher she’d been dismissed as one of the girls ended up in hospital.
