Fault Finding as a Way to Cushion the Pain of Life

This was another softer, more rounded art style paired with a good use of panel size and placement. I appreciate that they paid attention to the background details.

A Fine Day for Maids
They put Atsushi in a maid dress! A maid dress with cat eats!! With full shading. I love it.

The anatomy on the women was questionable. They were built like milk gallons or elbows sticking out of their chest. 😂

One Hunting Dogs Day Off

Nah, that's just what a girl wants: a gemstone studded, brass knuckles. Gift Giving: 1000.

I like their arts style. They've got a way with facial expressions and poses.

'Why? Do you even like bears? Or fish?'

The Time When Kunikida-san Was Laid Up

I love when manga artists use the panel size, placement, and shape to its fullest. It really makes a story more dynamic, and this artist did a great job of that.
Also notable was how well they conveyed movement, which helps Suu much with tone and story flow and the detailed way they draw hair.

This was one of my favorites. The story was perfect.

Why Are You Visiting Japan, Comrade?
The art style was cute with a chibi/cartoon quality, but honestly, this is my least favorite story. It felt like they just threw something together so they'd have something to turn in.
At least it was short, and they didn't drag it out. Nothing worse than saying a lot when you have nothing to say.

But I did learn some neat cultural tidbits.

HAMBURGER Sushi??? That sounds like a hate crime.

Is this just a little story about them exploring the others culture? Kinda cute.

The Fully Automated Suicide Machine

I love the ending where the author gives you a couple Kenji themed places you should visit since they live in Iwate prefecture. That's really cool.

They really take full use of expressions in this one, which sets it apart from the others. It was chaotic and goofy, and the expressions really lend to that atmosphere.

Glad we got one with Kenji. He deserves more love.

Damn, Kunikida knew EXACTLY what to say. 😂

I know this is going to be fun and lighthearted, but I appreciate Atsushi telling Dazia how it would hurt all of them if Dazia were ever to take a slide down the suislide, you know.

I think it's important to address it every once in a while

I would have loved if they continued the dark gritty backgrounds from the first page all the way through. So that his face would have been even more striking, live a ghost.

The Small Visitor in the Rain

I'm torn. Was it creative? Yes. Was it original? Yes. Was the twist unexpected? Yes. Would I have preferred it if they just gave Aku a kitten? YES! The art is very soft and organic. It's really perfect for a story centering around Akutagawa, between the deep contrasts in their shading(the bone white of his face w/ the jet black)and the Victorian horror/Tim Burton vibes the art gives.

Ooooh, love the contrast here. That's a gorgeous silhouette.

I love how he's got this line forming outside the door to see the "kitten." Big, scary port mafia. lol.

Someone pls give my boy some eyebrows.

The shading is giving me life, and the first page was set up beautifully, but wtf man?.? An octopus? You know, some tropes are classics for a reason (like the 'character adopts/takes care of a cute cat/dog' trope).

Why play with an already good trope.

The Cute Ghost Client

Otakumi's art style is a lot softer than the last few artists, which I really enjoyed. This lady page especially really reminds me of the ghibli art style.

This was a cute story, with a perfect little ending. I live the use of shading in here, and they did a great job handling the characters. The ring thing was a bit of a stretch, but it's Rompo, and his deductions are kinda op.

Hirotsu-san's Cafe

Best use of panel placement and size to add to the pacing and tone of the story. Kinda reminds me of Haikyuu's fantastic panel work.

The art itself is possibly my last favorite. The characters' eyes are all kinds lifeless, and the face shape is even more angular than Araki's, leaning more towards skeletal.

Good storytelling, though.

Things that bring me joy:
☕️Hirotsu getting joy from Elise ordering coffee.
☕️Guest appearance of Sigma.
☕️ Elise's genuine joy at seeing Chuuya first and foremost, followed quickly by Chuuya with cake.

Something about the way the face tapers to a point, the small nose, and the big unshaded eyes have this vibe that is both childlike and inviting while feeling slightly dangerous.

Like a carnivorous plant.

All Quiet on the Black-cloth Front

I take it back. This is my favorite story and my second favorite artist so far. It kinda reminds me of beast, but where beast gives ghoul, this gives pixie. I love the disproportions of the face; how they come to a point. The little noses. The eyes. Something about their lack of shading is both jarring and yet so pleasing to look at. It's both childlike and dangerous.

I love that Chuuya took Akutagawa to see a dinosaur movie, and Gin takes him to see magical girl movies. That's adorable. This gives me life.

I need more of Chuuya and Gin being good siblings to Aku. (Chuuya is Theriot big brother. I will die on this hill.)

I was hoping he'd dress atsushi like Chuuya, but in my heart, I knew it wasn't so. 😞

But at least it backfired on Dazia.

Oh, Dazia got kidnapped, and the only route is to break through an extra thick wall that will take the combined strength of both their abilities? 😯
How convenient,,, Dazia.

The Lucky Bag

So far the most distinctive art style, leaning a touch more into a cartoony qualities (Definitely their style). It's got chibi vibes. The chaotic background lends to the inner chaos that Alcott is feeling throughout the story.

A Quick Break

The artist here used the least amount of shading so far, with most of their shading being used in the background as a tool to really highlight their characters. Preferring stark contrasts and surface level dimensions.

The story was adorable! Definitely my favorite story so far, but my favorite art was from Nykken. I just love that vivid, heavy shading.

Look at them having fun taking care of their sleeping dad. Lol. 💐🐱

I love how the differences in each artist's art style are most notable in how they draw the eyes. Where the last artists' eyes were faceted like diamonds, these eyes are more crisp and clear. Almost cat-like with sharp, slightly angular lines.

The Apple Demon
I love this artists style! Their eyes are so expressive and detailed. They're absolutely beautiful. Kyoko looked so cute, I love her. Something about this artists style just gives the characters more physical depth. Like they're going to reach out and touch me. 🍎😈👘
