A profound read so far for such a short book. I never made the connection between the washing of the feet to the Eucharist. Christ’s sacrificial love, he loves us even to enter willingly into his passion.

"We imagine all too often that we must offer beautiful things to God. But the beautiful does not need to be offered to God. It is already in God's sphere. It is the evil, that which has not yet found its right place that must be lifted up and placed there where it belongs, in God's radiance."

"The transformation of bread and wine in the Eucharist teaches us that transformation is something fundamental in our lives. Everything can be trasnformed. ... Everything that we offer in the Eucharist together with the bread and wine—our joy, our sorrow, even our sins—becomes transformed. Everything that was a minus becomes a plus. Everything becomes grace."

"The Christian ethic is not a list of commandments. It is a Person, Jesus himself, who through the Eucharist unites himself with us and lives in us. He constitutes the norm; he is the rule. When it is a question of the Christian ethic, one can never be finished. The more we love, the more we realize that his love is always greater."
