Sigh. I just can't take the fact that Caleb has been all in, hearts-on-platter, vulnerable, kind, sweet, 100% from the get go and Jake is still withholding, feeling misplaced guilt, giving just enough to keep Caleb hopeful.
It's breaking my heart. Especially because Caleb is willing to take any scraps that Jake will give him. Despite the inevitable HEA, I'm feeling too sour towards Jake to keep going right now.

This book is long. 6500 locations long. I'm at 60% & Caleb has already come to terms w/&expressed his feelings for Jake. Jake is still treating Caleb like crap, acting like a total a-hole & is still fantasizing about his dead wife while w/Caleb both intimately & casually. I hate his character. And there's still no dealing with the fact that Caleb is a demon...the reason I'm still reading this one at this point.

To add to the whole dead wife thing I hate so much, the 40 year old MC with said dead wife has sex for the second time with the MC who is the demon and wakes up in the morning next to him, freaks out, goes into the shower and has a graphic on page MF sex fantasy about his dead wife while he "enjoys himself"...not only that, he calls out HER name loudly. Ugh...don't know if I'm going to make it through this one.

So, even though the whole MC has a dead wife trope is totally the WORSE trope EVER I still made the decision to read this one. I have to admit that whole Demon thing is what drew me in. So, even though this one already is full of "whoa is me my wife has been dead for 6 years and I'm going to bring it up through the whole book so far" stuff...I'm going to give this one an honest chance. Because, Demons. :)

I knew Gabriel was involved, but I figured it had something to do with Daphne.

There are 92 cases of mentioning Krista in this book. Considering there are 500 in my version, it's every 5 pages, not to mention all the pronouns, "wife" and "soulmate" or whatnot. Pick one already, Jake - Caleb or Krista - or get therapy. Ugh!
