Fast-paced, keeping my interest, and curiosity. I'm not guessing who the antagonist is.

Even off-put by the beginning -who among us wouldn't LOOK if someone gave us an urgent suitcase- I enjoy the rest of the chase. There are police consulted along the way, which is more intelligent than many 'bumble heedlessly' stories. But my favourite aspect has always been people taking charge of tracking a mystery down.

Different and very interesting. I don't think it make sense to be suspect in your dearest friend's death: (A) when you were out-of-town and (B) you were well kept at her apartment. No pressure, no complaints.

This is the very contrast I've been observing as a writer. Do readers want a hasty leap into action, without knowing or absorbing the heroine? Or is there a way to let an informative, personalizing introduction simmer with a maintenance of interest?
