Status Updates From Brandherd (Kay Scarpetta, #9)

Not my favorite Kay Scarpetts novel… I don’t love that Benton died. It is intriguing to know what’s going on, but it’s a slower book which I’m having a hard time with.

Decided to give this author another shot. Nope. Just nope. I just can’t. She is WAY too detailed in her descriptions and that makes the story line take forever to develop. I tried, but I think I will bee getting rid of the rest of her books.

Seems to be getting weird to me how close Kay is to Lucy, they seem to be enmeshed beyond normal close family. Also I really don’t like Lucy and more and more don’t see her role in these stories.

McGovern is coaching at the school? That can’t bode well

Her unabashed fury at the lawyer was unwarranted

Since Kay doesn’t like Teun, I suspect her.

The author is stalling for a word count and it’s so obvious

I think this book is the one where the series officially jumped the shark. 🦈 Absolutely vital information is skipped between books, a villain IDGAF about is back, there’s OBVIOUS filler, and Kay drools over her super-hot niece who learned to fly a helicopter in mere weeks and can do calculus in her mind.

The last book ended with an optimistic outlook for Lucy, but this one starts with her having resigned from the FBI. Wtf? I hate the continuity between these books

Scarpetta is still uncomfortably obsessed with commenting on her lesbina niece's physique...and how now shes a "sexual being" who is attractive, and fit, and how many other things.

Why am I reading this still.

It’s picking up nicely, I’m interested.

i’m really loving the way cornwall maps out watch individual theory as well as how my own theory’s are developing the more you get to know characters & new characters that come in.

so so good! i love the writing style and the characters so much.

I've made it to #9 in this series and.. while I love all the information and most of the characters, it's just too much and I'm done.

😨 I refuse to believe what has happened in this story since I last checked in. I said things were about to happen, didn't I? Well ... things happened. 😶

Are y'all tired of me saying how much I love Marino yet? 💜 I can see how and why he aggravates Kay. But she really loves him too ... deep down! 😊

It's about time for the story to get down to brass tacks. I'm still loving Marino and his constant looking out for the headstrong Kay. 🥰

I've missed Kay Scarpetta since I last read this series - but dang, I think I've missed Marino more! 😂

Oh maaaaan ~ the reviews on this book are horrible. I have a huge TBR and I think that I am going to bail on this one.

Too much detail, step-by-step instructions, boring. Good story, other than that.
