In chapter 6 Hannah is put in a new difficult situation that finally sends her to a breaking point. She had planned on spending her Saturday in the house until her aunt and Vanessa insisted that she spend time with Vanessa and attend a party. When she gets dressed she immediately let down when her cousin asks if shes preparing for Halloween because of her outfit.

In chapter 5 Vanessa and her mom were not too happy with Hannah's choice of clothing because they weren't as nice as theirs. They called the things she bought cheap knock offs and not worth her money even though she got so much for such a little price. She began to feel as if they were degrading her and feeling ashamed that she had picked out things they thought were so ugly but she felt as if they were cute.

In chapter 4 Vanessa's mom forced Vanessa to go shopping with Hannah to help her pick out nice things. The store they were going in wasn't a store Vanessa wanted to be caught in due to how cheap and knock the things were but it was good enough for Hannah and the amount of money she had. As soon as they arrive Vanessa spots old friends and immediately leaves and hides leaving Hannah to find clothes for herself.
