Status Updates From Land of the Beautiful Dead

I am not a huge fan if Lan at this point. She has gone through an entire personality switch? She was sort of stoic and mission focused at the start, and now shes coming across as childish, selfish, unintelligent, unsophisticated. I could vibe with a fmc who is illiterate but not an idiot. But its like her whole mission to convince Azrael to end the eaters is forgotten? Or just not as important as her tantrums?

Also very much imagining Azrael looking like Withers from BG3

God-tier book. I need time to recover.
I SOBBED for the last 25-30%. Like to the point I couldn’t even read the pages.

Basically I’ve been sobbing for three chapters straight. I’m ruined. Make no mistake, I’m LOVING it, but wow… this is beautifully sad.

“I will never be free of that moment, and that is just how you planned it, so damn you and damn your hollow sorries!” 😫😭

“Does that mean I get to name you?”
“No.”
“I think I’ll name you ‘B*tch’.”

I actually forgot how Lan has nothing left to lose when she goes to Azrael. It makes her brazen and determined.

Straying from my spooky season list (and I was doing so well 😂.. oops) but I was craving R. Lee Smith.

Just found out Smith is also on Ao3 (that totally tracks with the horrific cover but amazing story). No wonder I’m ripping through these long ass chapters.

Rereading, my heart already hurts knowing what's to come.

I stopped at 27%. Good story, but I’m just not in the mood for a slow burn at the moment. I’ll get back to it at a later time.

I don't even care that these chapters are 1.5 hours long.

It’s slow moving, but the story is interesting.

The heroine is lowkey annoying.. She’s whiny, bratty and behaves with the impulse control of a toddler.

I fear a happy ending is not in the works me
