Every single time I feel like it can't get worse, the story gives the this phantom feeling as if I've been punched in the gut. This book will break my heart

So, 15 chapters left, but I need to take some breaks. Not sure when I will finish, whether today or tomorrow.

I want to predict some kind of war for book 3, bc Kestrel, after all, is the General's daughter, and this book feels calm.

Chapters are shorter now. (Last 3 chapters were 2 pages long, each).

I keep feeling sadness for Arin throughout the book. Perhaps it's good that he's not real.

I would say: count on the FMC to ruin a good thing, but she knows what she's doing.

Do you like romantic yearning, an unpredictable plot, political intrigue and power play? Then this trilogy is for you.

Will Kestrel betray Arin? Will they get together? Will they have another deep fling? The suspense.

Anyhow, couldn't sleep all night, but couldn't really read either, guess I needed a break between books.

Trying to get back on track and figure out the type of pacing this book has.
