Oh my gosh, I read 50% of this book today. Also, I’m DYING to find out who Madame Weatherberry actually is

Dangggg. The sexism that was present during this time in the fairytale world blows my mind considering in the present time in the land of stories, sexism is completely nonexistent

So far one of the hardest books I have read and is older than the land of stories but I still think land of stories is better (so far)👍👍👍👍👍

So much has happened- I’m speechless

For some reason my progress was set at 75? Anyway I’ve been re-watching Glee so I’m super excited to read this!

This book is starting to get on my nerves.

May #2 - (the update before this is also May #2, I forgot to add the date). Brystal is very smart/clever. First, she came up with a very clever way to hide her books in her room. Second, she knew more about the laws in the Southern Kingdom than her brother, who actually goes to school for it. Also, she came up with a clever excuse to go out at night and volunteer at the library.

Currently, Brystal is put on trial. Her defense attorney is her brother, Brooks, and the attorney against her, is her other brother. Her sentence was execution. Before she could be executed, her Father ran in and stopped the whole thing. He instead sentenced her to a facility where naughty girls go.

May #2. Currently in the book, the students are battling the witches and the Snow Queen by using their magic. One word to describe Brystal Evergreen is courageous. This is because she got a job at the library and read all of the books in it, even though she knew she could be thrown in jail for the rest of her life. Also, she went into the In-Between to find Lucy, even though she knew it was a very dangerous place.

In my book, Brystal goes back into the secret room to check out the book on magic. When she goes there, she is snuck up on by the librarian and 2 guards. Next, I predict that Brystal will face her Dad and other family members at court because they are justices. I think she will get sentenced to life-long labor, but she will use magic to escape from the Southern Kingdom.

MAy #1. I think she was using witchcraft because every time she came back from the Northern Kingdom, she covered herself up more than before she had left, and using witchcraft changes your appearance.

May #1. Bristle has just found out from the Tree of Truth that Madame Weatherberry lied to them about magic and witchcraft. I predict that the students will find out that the real reason that Madame Weatherberry lied to them about witchcraft is because she was using it herself to try and defeat the Snow Queen.

Omg!! This book is sooooooo good! I’ve read 316 pages in 3 days! I don’t know if it’s because we’re in quarantine or if it’s because I just really like the book but I’m going to go with I just really like the book!

An important moment in the pages that I read last week was when she discovered the secret room. This is because she read so many books that exposed her to the dark past of the Southern Kingdom. Also, in the secret room, a book on magic unveiled to Brystal that she is a fairy, which is probably one of the most important moments thus far.

In my book, Brystal read every single book in a secret room, and the last one was about magic. Once she said a certain spell, the room filled with flowers, meaning that Brystal is a fairy. This made Brystal question everything about her life. Also, when she went to look at the magic book another time, the librarian and two guards came and seized her right when magic was happening.

This is significant because if Madam Wetherberry hadn’t told Brystal this, Brystal wouldn’t have been so worried and she also wouldn’t have gone to the north to save her teacher.

While the students from the Academy of Magic are heading towards the Northern Kingdom to save Madam Wetherberry, they fall down a cliff and land in a magic garden with magic plants. A significant moment in the book is when Madam Wetherberry has a conversation with Brystal about the Northern Conflict, and how she wants Brystal to fight the Snow Queen if she dies doing so herself.

This is significant because if Madam Wetherberry hadn’t told Brystal this, Brystal wouldn’t ave been so worried and she also wouldn’t have gone to the north to save her teacher.

While doing so, she was caught And taken to jail for performing magic, which is by far the most punishable offense someone could commit. This leaves the reader with a cliffhanger, because the reader doesn’t know what will happen to Brystal. She could get killed, sent to a correctional facility, or be sentenced to jail.

An example of a cliffhanger from the book is on page 103, right before chapter 5. When Brystal was “cleaning”the library, she stumbled upon a secret door in one of the bookshelves that led to a secret one with banned books. One of the banned books had an incantation written in it to determine wether or not someone was a fairy or a witch. Brystal read the incantation out loud, and formed and entire galaxy around.

Currently in the book Tangerina and Lucy keep fighting, and Tangerina keeps insulting Lucy and calling her a witch because her magic produces different outcomes than everyone else at the academy. To try and resolve it, Bristol calls everyone in her room and has Lucy read a spell from an old book to determine once and for all wether Lucy actually is a witch, fairy, or neither.

A cliffhanger in this book is, "But most troubling of all, one of these books was going to change Brystal's view of herself. And once she read it she would never look into a mirror the same way again..." This cliffhanger makes you want to go straight into the next chapter because it makes you feel like you just have to know what this book is going to be.

In my book, Brystal fell asleep overnight at the library while reading, which causes her mother to be worried sick. Also, Brystal finds this peculiar book, which happens to be a lever to a secret room, filled with books about the terrible history of the Southern Kingdom.
