Status Updates From Boundaries

Finished step 4. I admit, I wasn't all that innerested in the children/adolescent subchapters, but it was all good anyway. The book ends with an annex on TA (Parent, Child, Adult - the only one who is in the here and now) and an annex on strokes (which are like the TA equivalent of rewards, punishments and reinforcements). Lotsa white pages at the end for the Learning Journal.

Step 4> Family and Other Animalz. A parent-child relationship can only be good enuff. Pedestal (Pedestald and Forever). Nightmare (Oversteppers and Ghosts - especially Victorian Ghosts). Not-So-Bad Parents. The rocket thought experiment> What if your rocket is empty? Living with Ghosts. No need to be a ghost hunter, just parent yourself the way you would have liked to be parented.

Step 3> Love and Intimacy. The myth of love with no boundaries. Take care of yourself first, the relationship will follow (or not, but that is ok). Some people will always react negatively to your change, but that is ok. Friends with benefits. Friends with theatrics (LOL). Frenemism. Ghosting (usually between a Rescuer and a Victim). Oversharing and undersharing. Good chapter, and quite inclusive.

Second step> Boundaries in the workplace. Great points about various "incarnations" of colleagues, bosses, oneself. Golden cuffs. Yes-men/women. A-listers. Family CEO (this was cute :D and the example of the lesbian couple was sweet ^^). What surprised me was when the authors said> you dont have to Rescue someone from bullying. Winner's Triangle> Assertive, Caring, Vulnerable. Trianglez all the way, like I said :D

Some excellent, practical pp. If only TA wouldn't rear its clownish head :D Some great exercises (the pasta jar, the Wi-Fi House, the key to the Wi-Fi House). Setting boundaries to your online life (social media, e-mail, apps, usw). FOMO is real. The drama triangle (Rescuer, Persecutor, Victim), from which one should ideally stay away. Triangles, Triangles everywhere in TA (we began with Child, Parent, Adult :D).

Rather inneresting lil book. I guess it owes its lack of success to its underlying use of Transactional Analysis (which is silly, but intuitive, like most psychoanalysis :D). But beyond that, boundary problems are real, and the exercises and solutions are not so bad. So far read about sleep, fitness, and healthy eating boundaries. Let's see what I can actually implement over the next days :D
