Pleasantly surprised at how much I like this book even if it is a medieval european style (in fact, alternate Europe) fantasy. Some rather dated tropes that I'll get into when I complete the book.

I hate the writing so much that i DNFed this book 3 chapters away from the ending.

Surprisingly good I must say. The setting is interesting, a bit like our own world with some magic and such. The characters I enjoyed, Alain and Liath especially, as well as Prince Sanglant. It doesn’t bode well with him under Bloodhearts thumb now as the ‘Prince of Dogs.’ Either way, I look forward to the sequel.

Sabella and Antonia I really despise. Antonia especially, since she acts like this kind and righteous woman but is clearly an evil cow.

Didnt read much today at all but a new characters been introduced. Rosvita I think. She’s alright. Only read a few pages of her perspective so I can’t say much.

Oh thank god. The Eagles of the King saved her from the bastard and she has the Book of Secrets. There is hope after all.

Liath, you stupid bitch. God, she is such an idiot of a character. But I suppose years of abuse can do that to you.

Liath is aggravating me. Sucking up to this Hugh fuck who is clearly a power hungry bastard. Oh well.

It’s getting pretty interesting as it goes along. I fee bad for Liath having to deal with that slimy bastard Hugh but I think her slavery is coming to an end soon.

The world is quite interesting and original. The characters so far aren’t bad and are interesting enough, but I’ve only been introduced to them for a few pages really so I can’t judge them yet.
