A re-read (again, I don't log any reading pre-2025).
After an Ito spree in 2024, I picked up No Longer Human with zero expectations, having no prior knowledge of it, at all. It was an experience so vivid that it characterised the latter end of 2024 for me. To be frank, it's a fucking masterpiece. It'll rip your guts out, no less, but the wrath of Dazai's prose and the craftsmanship of Ito's penwork is unbelievable.

This book is so hard to read, not because of horror elements. But because of the devastation to this poor human being. It’s the saddest story.
