Status Updates From An Orchestra of Minorities

This book is a chi’s, or guardian spirit’s, account of his host’s choices, and that is what I found most intriguing about the book. I enjoyed the insight into Igbo cosmology and the chi’s reflections on humanity. I also liked how other religions were explored in tandem (there is a beautiful Christian reconciliation storyline). However, I found the role of women, vulgarity, and pacing to be problematic. 3🌟

I feel conflicted about this book. Initially, I wanted to DNF at the 10% mark due to sexual content and feeling removed from the characters. However, I continued because the sex scenes lessened and I was intrigued by the narration. I recommend the audiobook format; the narrator did so well and it fits the retelling narrative structure.
