This book is both surreal and grounded. Heavy on faith and theology, it is both an imagination of a woman outside of a restricted high control community and a believable rendition of what it's like to be inside.

I enjoy August. He has powers to articulate things in a way the women could not while also still being a present being in the conversation. I empathise and see myself in him, and this book does not hate men.
