I am getting so frustrated and have realized that I am hate reading this short story collection already. As someone who loves Athena Club series, I expected to adore her short story collection, but I am actively disliking it.

3. The Rose in Twelve Petals - I get the idea - to present the story of Sleeping Beauty through different POVs, but I don't get what was the point. Was there even a point? - ⭐⭐⭐

4. Thorns and Briars - I thought this was a continuation of the previous story and was confused - ⭐⭐⭐

5. Rose Child - A women meeting a fae folk child, barely has any substance - ⭐⭐⭐

6. Thumbelina - A woman wanting to be small? -⭐⭐⭐

For a short story collection that claims that is "retells and recasts fairy tales, re-centering and empowering the women at the heart of these timeless narratives", it surely likes to hate on female characters.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something, but if it continues like this, I am dnf-ing this with a vengeance.

2. The Ogress Queen - can we stop with women hating women in literature, please??? I find it especially egregious in this story where the MC says that Sleeping Beauty is a victim of her husband and also that she wants revenge against Sleeping Beauty for stealing her husband in the same breath?! CAN WE NOT??? - ⭐⭐
