Why didn't johnny just hurry up and go when he went to go bury jeb? I mean it was his plan. Horse and buggy go faster than feet. Like Why didn't you just take your shot so you din't have to deal with it. Either jackson will learn from his lesson or escape.

Will johnny actually end up escaping? Or will the dark soldiers find out what hes planning and kill him? What good is having johnny captured anyways? I think johnny will end up escapin but not as easy as he thinks it will be.

Why can't johnny just be a good guy and teach private turner how to read? It isn't going to do him any good just teaching him the wrong why and them him figuring it out that he was taught backwards. Plus johnny might still have a good life he just becomes friends with private turner.

I think johnny and private turner ar starting to sorta become friends even though private turner captured johnny. Its funny because they keep making fun of each other's weaknesses. But Will they become friends or make deals with eachothers? Will johnny ever get away?

Johnny has started to like Cush a little more because he is trying to get him out of a Confederate jail cell. I think by the end of this book Johnny and Cush will be friends and go their separate ways.

found out turners name isn't actually turner, his name is cush and turner is just his last name. I wonder if he had a last name before because he said he chose turner to be his last name to get go into the service.

A lot of bonding had happened between Johnny and Cush and they are actually working together for once. I like how even though they are really different and argue a lot, they still tolerate each other. I think that soon Cush will let Johnny be free and go home.

Will johnny get out of it? Will he flea from the yankee? Johnny should have just listened to his father, he could be at home just working on the farm right now but no he got captured by a dark skinned yankee. Would he have still got captured if he just had stayed on the trail or would it have been worse and got killed? Will they torture him since they captured him?

Why would johnnys ma let him go to richmond, she knows in her heart its not safe, and I dont blame johnny for trying to go because i would have done the same thing if it was my dad. Ive lost alot of people in my life but I dont think I could ever lose my siblings or my parents.
