I will do my best to push through and finish this book. The transitions between chapters are poorly explained and we were dumped into a political, religious, and historical mess with little to no explanation of the world or characters.

Do I detect a reverse harem here? hmmm.

I just realized the Starborn are of darker skin and hair, and are 1.) more “barbaric” (a warrior race) 2.) seem to be working with evil and 3.) are vilified for no good reason
I love racism seeping into high fantasy. Don’t read this book.

They really gave these characters powers with no actual showing of how they gained skill, huh
They really made the female protag clearly jealous of the other similarly aged female character, huh
This book is really bad in all aspects, huh
