I agree with other reviewers that say there are too many names being thrown around and too much focus on the Taliban and the US gov is the grander scheme of the war. I was really hoping for a deeper dive into Bowe Bergdahl's experience and the controversy surrounding it all.
It kind of feels like the author realized the book wasn't long enough w/ the focus on Bowe, so he added in the other info.

I have a really strong background in this war and in the region more generally, so I'm finding some of the background with the war and the geo-strategic/political considerations to be rather dry and uninteresting. Partly because I already know a lot of this, but also because the author isn't doing the best job of tying it all together.
I think this book could be a bit shorter.

Enjoying this so far. My biggest takeaway is that Bowe Bergdahl was a moron and maybe special needs? Whatever the case, he should never have been allowed to join the military.

Reads like a season of Blowback, which is ironic as Chapter Two has that very title!
