Enjoying this book so far. I found an old “Today’s Best Nonfiction” collection that includes this story at the front. Lehrer lived quite the intriguing life, almost a Forrest Gump of his time.

I question the sanity of any teacher who chooses this book for a Freshman English class. I mean, I'm ok with it, but a 14 year old girl isn't going to care about or identify with a middle aged news reporter's professional memoir.
