I really wish there are maps for this series. I mentioned it back in the first book when I realized that the fortresses and ancient sites of magic in the novel were real places back in Croatia in 1679. I would love to see those places on a map along with the reach of the Republic of Venice.

In this book, the duo travel to France and Spain. Both forbid magic so that makes me think they are also under Venice?

I think I'm in love with Nagarath. I love his tongue-in-cheek humor, his kindness, his nerdy obsession for books and old parchments and his excitement over old magical relics. Old, antique, and relic are probably his top three favorite words. I also love how he tries to take care of Liara, his young, headstrong, equally quirky apprentice.
