I’m reading the last story now and I like how the narrator is pointing out the victim blaming and internalized misogyny of their mother’s older generation of women.

“But if someone Virgin doesn’t come to pick up my baby, maybe an alien abduction would be the next best thing” LMAO WHO THINKS OF THAT LINE??!! 😂😂😂😂

I just finished the story Hija de Chango and MY GOD that last line broke my heart!!

It’s still really good so far but it’s also making me have some realizations about my own love life and now I’m a little depressed tbh.

Love it so far!

I want to like this but these short stories aren’t doing much to call me in.

I don’t know what to make of this collection so far. Also minus 100 for shortening St Patrick’s Day to St Patty’s Day instead of (St) Paddy’s Day. One of my biggest pet peeves, especially given we’re just a few weeks out.

There are books that I just feel really good about and this is one of them.
