Status Updates From A Dresser of Sycamore Trees...

Setting aside for the moment because this is due at the library today and I don't want to rush through this book because it's such a joy to soak in and cherish.

Thoroughly enjoying this book so far. Didn't expect that. I still need to research Episcopalians and the specifics of their history and doctrines.

~ If anyone makes himself his own master in the spiritual life, he makes himself scholar to a fool.

~ It is outrageous just to be alive. All of us are like passengers strapped into the wildest ride at the amusement park...

~ In contrast with the half-open ears of our dearest friends, we have a listening as a large as the universe, a listening so profound we can almost hear it—and it unsettles us...

~ I have no idea who benefits more from these visits, the people or me. ... I pray that I will bring God’s peace when I enter someone’s house. Yet it often seems that I am conscious of bearing God’s peace only after leaving.

~ And just as fire is completely familiar and completely necessary—yet somehow never ordinary when it ignites—so was that prayer.

Pre-read: part of the 1000 list. It took me FOREVER to choose a book to read tonight because I have too many on my shelf right now...note to self, don’t pick up 10 books from the library at one time
