These characters and this plot are so flippy floppy lol

This book has a serious case of poor marketing. The title implies dragons or enslavement or both, neither of which are at all relevant. The synopsis implies grudging cooperation between family, which is (so far, at least) barely a part of the plot, & not at all in the way it's described. The only thing that works is the cover, but it's fairly generic, all things considered, & doesn't convey anything about the plot

About half of that chapter was entirely unnecessary
