Sometimes you need to sit with big feelings, sometimes you need to stand with them and redistribute the weight between arms. This book was heavy, and bold, and touched on beautiful things.

Francisco y Fidel... Es el poema que he esperado toda mi vida sin siquiera saberlo. Tengo que parar este pequeño poemario un momento por que si no no podre parar de llorar.

"The Future Captured in a Heartless Fist" might be one of my favorite poems in this collection. It's a good book of poems thus far. Been a while since I've read Walker's poetry and it feels sobering in the experience. Will probably finish this in another hour before I move to my next read.

"For I do not wallow in sadness
though it visits more often these days
than I would like;
the world is dying
in so many ugly ways
and humans with it."

Who could have imagined
what the world is really like
when we were children?
We’re old now, but in spite of all we learned,
so much of it dreadful and scary, even
petrifying,
we gave Life
our best shot.

And I mean of the world, not just us.
