Status Updates From The Cold Is in Her Bones

I give up. The way the book is written is really grating on me.

I don't think I've heard an author mention the main character's name so many times in such a short time. It's literally almost every sentence. Incredibly annoying, especially in audiobook version. And it makes the story sound more child oriented.

I don't get Milla. She constantly shifts her wants and there really isn't any introspection done on the page. She goes from wanting to escape, to stay and help her friend, to giving up and running off but there isn't any time spent sitting with her, she just goes and then her thoughts on what happened is suddenly different later on in the story

Wtf, I don't get why she still wants to help Iris?? She tried to kill her?

I'm so confused about the time in this book. I assume the stuff with Hulda happened at most 20 years before the start of the book but the way its presented in the book, it's more like it's always been that way, for at least 60 years? I assume this book was set in the 1700s-1800s but a farming town somehow constructed a big entirely stone building in less than 20 yrs.

A lot of things are really abrupt? Like Hanna and Trude goes from firmly saying no to suddenly saying yes to push the story along

I'm confused about her anger about the first snake death, she didn't care when it happened? And now she's saying that death greatly affected her.

I don't get why Milla's switched from wanting to die to wanting to live? Is it because she realized she wanted to save Iris? To keep the promise of being her friend
