I do like that Juliette is taking some stabs of being independent and traveling. I do wish that she would have brought Millie with her. Safety in numbers. But at the same time, you do you. :)

It's come to my attention that the plot is a blatant ripoff of Son of the Sahara (by Louise Gerard) from the 1920s. Really, REALLY blatant. I haven't read SotS myself, but from the reviews I've read of SotS & the plot thus far...yeah. Seems like the only thing missing is the '20s racist comments. *SCOWL*

'He shook his head, forcing those deep blue eyes -- were her irises actually striped violet? -- and that full red mouth out of his mind.' ....Striped violet irises?? JFC. *facepalm*

"Let those women marry who must in order to eat. I'm going to stay single & independent, probably forever, or at least for a very long time." ....Nah, only until your first orgasm. *eyeroll* This chick is veering into Moo Sue Territory.

I always lol when these hard-luck Mary Sues refuse to marry a kind, handsome, & rich young man because his kiss doesn't make them thrash with hormones. I mean, c'mon. In RL these girls would count their lucky stars & grab with both hands.

'Maria dabbed at her tears. There was no point in debasing herself further, she told herself firmly, although she had little dignity left to preserve. You have always known this day would come. And trying to square her sagging shoulders, she comforted herself with the thought that at least she would never have to sell herself again.' ....I hope Maria reappears later. She's fab.

I personally think the hero is the sheikh's biological son, but they were so vague on when she fell pregnant, so it's hard to say. :P

This is not too bad so far. I'm actually expecting good things from this one. Also food porn.

'Surely he must realize she had been no virgin that first time. But of course when she had stabbed him, there had been so much blood & confusion. And men were so vain -- they would believe whatever was most flattering. Looking at him now, she longed to throw the truth into his arrogant face. But she didn't dare.'

"Perhaps tonight you will only observe & learn what pleases this man who is your master. But do not forget you are his. And when the time comes that he chooses you, there can be no thought of refusal."

What kind of world is this girl living in?
"Sure, I'll let you marry me Rodney to save me. But you'll have to sleep in this uncomfortable old chair so the servants don't know it's a marriage in name only."
Who gets married FOR LIFE to someone they won't sleep with? I'd punch her in the face.
